The Laura Crane Trust is a charity which raises funds for reasearch to be carried out into cancer in children and young adults. The aim of the research is to improve treatment and save young lives. Ready Steady Cook!

Members this week experimented at our very own version of Ready Steady Cook! Six teams competed to create a meal in 20 minutes with a goody bag of ingredients. I think i can quite safely say we haven't found the next Ainsley Harriet or Jamie Oliver! On a positive note we have had no reports of food poisoning from the judges yet! A huge thank you to Johnathan, Marion, Carol and Claire for judging the teams efforts. Well done to the winning team, The Kinky Tomatoes (Alex M, Dave S, Kirsten B, Helen S and Martin C) who made a beef stir fry and noodles.
Everyone is welcome to join us on Monday Night for the cheque presentation to The Laura Crane Trust meet at the Auction Mart at 7.30pm

A huge thank you to Lynsey Craggs for teaching us a couple of Highland dances. Here are some of picture from the evening.

Thirsk Young Farmers Newsletter
We are pleased to write and tell you of the successful start to our competition year. The club is going from strength to strength with an abundance of new and enthusiastic members. All new office holders have taken to their roles like ducks to water and are striving to create a club to be rivalled with. It is fantastic to see the club grow in strength. We wait in anticipation for the rest of the competing year.
We would like to share with you some of our success from early in the competition year. Congratulations to Andy Stonehouse, Anna Ramshay, Hannah Fletcher and Richard Craggs who came 3rd in the Yorkshire Senior Brainstrust competition in December. Andy Stonehouse was placed 3rd as Senior Chairman. We wish the team luck as they go on to represent the club at Northern area in March.

Congratulation to Matthew Keel placed 7th and all the members who represented the club in the Clay Pigeon Shooting in January.
Members took two teams to the Yorkshire Ten Pin Bowling competition in January. Congratulations to Andy Stonehouse, Kathryn Turnbull, Pete Sanderson and Hannah Fletcher who were 2nd overall as a team. Congratulation to Andy Stonehouse placed 1st and Michelle Harker placed 3rd individually overall.

Most recently members headed to Lady Lumley’s School at Pickering to represent the district in Men’s Rugby and Ladies Hockey. A huge thank you to Andy Ryder, Hannah Fletcher and Michelle Harker for coaching our teams to success. A fantastic day was had by all competitors and supporters. The boys braved the mud and cold to be placed 4th. The ladies won the competition stealing the trophy from Ryedale district and now head to Hexham to compete at Northern area level.
We will shortly be placing an order for new club shirts for the competitive year. We are proud to announce our club sponsor for 2009 will be Brockhills of Yorkshire. If you are interested in purchasing a club shirt please contact myself on the above number.
We would like to invite you to support our Charity Race Night to be held at Dalton Village Hall on Saturday 4th April 2009. The tickets are priced at £5 to include a pie and pea supper. The tote from the race night will be donated to the clubs chosen charity which is The Lambert Memorial Hospital. Tickets can be purchased from any of the office holders. We look forward to seeing you at the event.
